My name is Kang Li, and my major is Mechanical Engineering. I am a CAD software engineer at the Beijing office of Cadence Design Systems Inc., developing geometric modeling and processing tools for the Centralized Platform of Geometry (CPG). My previous work was with the Direct Model group for the Teamcenter (Visualization) product line at Siemens Digital Industries Software (formerly UGS Corp. and then Siemens PLM Software).
I earned my Ph.D. from IIT in May 2015 with Dr. Xiaoping Qian, and got my M.S. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tongji University (China). Prior to that, I had briefly studied with Dr. Utpal Roy at Syracuse University and had intern internships at Siemens Corporate Technology and Shanghai Maglev.
The primary professional interests of mine are Geometric Modeling and Processing, Computer Graphics and Rendering, Computer-Aided Design/Manufacturing/Engineering, Numeric Methods, and Artificial Intelligence. My research projects at school are funded by the National Science Foundation and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. Some of my publications have won the best paper awards at the leading conferences.
